Princess Kidagakash "Kida" Nedakh, the princess of Atlantis drawn in Bruce Timm's artstyle. The pose is taken from a comic cover of "Fear" that Bruce time did. I thought it would look cool for Kida. Below is the unfinished inked sketch I did. I thought it might be nice to see the comparison between the two.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is an animated film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, and produced by Don Hahn. I do not own the character of Kida
Of all the "Disney Princesses" I think Kida is my favourite.
Not only did she have the typical traits Disney thrown on their female leads, like attractiveness and kindness and all that. But on top of all that she was competent, knew how to take charge of a situation, was a capable fighter and even pu the male lead to shame a couple of times.
I liked Atlantis because it was Disney breaking away from the norm and marketing to an older audience. It's as "anime" a Disney story could ever get, and would get. Not even Treasure Planet was bold enough to take it that far. BUT American audiences weren't ready for that sort of thing in animation and wrote it off. I think it came out too soon for its time. If it came out now, I think people would understand it more. BUT at the time person were wondering where the songs were and how come it wasn't more slapstick. My view is that the only down-side of Atlantis is the few slap-stick moments it had. It's very high on my favorite animations, including japanese animation. I love the 1900's pre-wwI feel clashed with the mystical atlantians. I love the crew, and the adventure to get there. The villain is for once a normal person. And there are no god damn songs! Not even pop numbers. It was just cool to look at, and I'm often frustrated that it doesn't get the credit it deserves. To me, it's right up there with Batman the Animated series. It's animation that doesn't talk down to you. Animation isn't just for kids... and that's a BIG issue american audiences haven't gotten yet.

Take notes Disney. THIS is how you do it.
Nice work.
